  • Insure your non wage earning spouse to compensate for loss of their services
  • It will usually cost 2% of gross income for men, and 4% for women
  • If you can't afford the premiums, consider a critical illness policy
  • Companies will only give you 60-67% of your gross income
  • Disability riders on a life policy are not disability insurance, but simply pay your life insurance premium if you get injured, nothing else
  • Make sure you get own occupation coverage, that pays if you can't perform your current job
  • Accidental death & dismemberment insurance is not disability coverage
