What Is Critical Illness Insurance?

It pays you a tax free benefit if:

  • Suffer a stroke
  • Heart attack
  • Life threatening cancer
  • Permanent disability (usually two or more limbs)
  • Loss of independence (Can't walk, dress yourself, etc.)
  • Death (if tied to a life insurance policy)

Critical illness insurance is not:

  • Heath Insurance
  • Disability Coverage
  • Only life insurance

Critical illness insurance will not pay you for:

  • Non serious or non listed diseases
  • If no provable damage has to occurred (not mere diagnosis)
  • Partial or temporary disability
  • Simply being unable to work
  • Stress related problems
  • Pregnancy
  • Anything else that's not specifically defined in the contract
